The book I read yesterday was very instructive.
2.經過許多練習,我們表演的時間到了。
Processing a lot of practice, our show time is coming. *
After a lot of practice, it’s our show time.

※中文雖然是動詞「經過…」,但英譯時可用介系詞來表達,更為貼切且精簡。 另外,「…到了」不一定要用動詞表達,翻成「現在正是我們表演的時候了」較好。

3.如果我能每天泡溫泉,我就會很健康。
If I can bath in hot spring everyday, I will be heath all the time.*
If I could bathe in the hot spring every day, I would be healthy.

※當某人說出這句話時,是表示「和現在事實相反的假設語氣」,要用此句型:

另外,要注意everyday是形容詞(平日的、日常的、每天的),every day才是時間副詞(每天)。

4.我喜歡這電影的原因不只是劇情,還有場景及音樂。
The reasons why I enjoy this movie are not only the plot, but also the scenery and music. *
I enjoy the movie forits plot, scenes and music.

※不要看到「…的原因」就用「the reasons why…」,用介系詞 for (因為…)說明喜歡的原因即可。 而「not only ~ but also~」 是用於「兩方面」,在此不適用。 另外,scenery是指風景,要表達電影之一幕幕的場景要用scenes。

5.所有我們做的事就像是記者的工作,包括做研究、訪問人們及寫報告。
All of the work we do are just like the work of a reporter, including research, interviewing people, and writing reports.*
Like a reporter we do research, interview people and write reports.

※不要看到「所」、「所有」就用all。這句應該翻成「如同記者的工作,我們要做研究、訪問人們及寫報告」, 這樣寫較為清楚明瞭,別人一眼就能知道此工作的性質就是如同記者的工作。

6.我永遠會記得我每天數著日曆,看哪天能夠回台灣。
I’ll always remember that I counted on the calendar every day when it was nearly the time to go back to Taiwan. *
I’ll always remember I counted the days when I could go back to Taiwan.

※這句話事實上是「數回台灣的日子還有幾天」,並不是數日曆,所以要用counted the days,不能用 calendar。 接著再用when引導的關係子句補充說明。

7.我想他要我們到他工廠的目的並不是要我們學會製鞋,而是要學會與別人合作。
I thought his goal of asking us to his factory was not only that he wanted us to learn how to make shoes but learned how to work with others. *
He asked us to work in his factory to learn how to work with othersrather than simply tolearn how to make shoes.

※這句話的重點是「他要我們學會與別人合作」,因此將這個部分先作說明, 再用rather then(而不是…)連接不定詞片語。另外,to就含有表達「目的」的意思在內。
