Game, Match ,Tournament ,Meet ,Race, Event ,Competition
中文的各式比賽都會有個「比賽」的字，如游泳比賽、排球比賽，籃球比賽、田徑比賽，選美比賽，演講比賽等；但英文裡會依照不同的運動競賽，用不同的單字來表示。

【運動場地】
同樣在中文裡會被稱作「場」的，但是英文中就大不相同了。
Field | 是四周空曠沒有圍起來的大型比賽場地，適合打棒球，踢足球等。如a baseball field, a football field, an athletic field, a playing field （可打棒球、踢足球的大型場地）。 |
| Stadium | 則是大型建築物，四周有觀眾座位，中間是運動比賽的場地。如a football stadium, a baseball stadium, a sports stadium。 |
| Court | 有清楚的畫線，用來作某些球類競賽的區域。如 a basketball court, a tennis court, a volleyball court, a badminton court, a squash court。 |
| golf course | 是高爾夫球場。 |
| boxing ring | 拳擊場。 |
| ice hockey rink | 冰上曲棍球場。 |
| playground | 許多中國同學誤以為playground就是運動場，其實playground是指給兒童遊戲的地方，有鞦韆(a swing)，滑梯(a slide)，翹翹板(a seesaw)等設施的場所。 |
| amusement park | 指一般遊樂場，如迪斯奈樂園。 |
| video arcade | 指有電動玩具的遊樂場。 |
